I felt the pain of loss
as you said goodbye-
felt the fear of loneliness
as I watched you go-
cried out ‘Please, oh please’
as I lost my strength-
fell down on my hands and knees
as my heart did break.
I felt as if my world shattered,
the pain of heartbreak-
filled up with so much hate and anger,
more than I could take-
and it spilled forth as tears.
A part of me may always wonder...
but it matters not-
what might have been, may never be-
nothing
was all I got.
I knew that I would overcome
given time, some day,
but I would never get back what I lost
when you walked away.
